The history of life has been punctuated by several mass extinctions. For example, the impact of a meteorite may have wiped out the dinosaurs and many forms of marine life at the end of the Cretaceous period. Fossils indicate that plants were much less severely affected by this and other mass extinctions. What adaptations may have enabled plants to withstand these disasters better than animals?
I'm looking for answers that have to do with mechanisms plants use that animals don't, as well as specific structures. Thanks!
They are photoautotrophs. And they do not require oxygen. That is bigger than food source. They also require organic compounds to survive and those count as food.

Have dinosaurs lived with humans?
In America, most of us are told that human fossils, dinosaur bones and the fossil evidence do not indicate that they have lived at the same time. As early as first grade or kindergarten, we are told that these Jurassic dinosaurs lived millions of years before humans.
Is this idea backed up by science?
Is it possible that humans have lived with dinosaurs?
Is it possible that dinosaurs have lived in our world just decades ago?
Is it even possible that a few of them may even be alive today?
Let's see what the scientific evidence tells us.
The earth's surface has many layers. These many layers make up ‘the geological column'. The order of these layers should show the sequence in which evolution took place. So the earliest layers (called strata) should reveal to us the first life forms on earth. These would be in the lowest layer of earth.. Then as we come closer to the surface of the earth we find other layers such as Permian, Jurrassic and Cretaceous. These included dinosaurs.
As we come even closer to the surface we discover even more 'recent' life forms, including the last one where humans 'evolved'. (This is all according to what wehave been told by evolutuionists.)
Evolution has been explained to us this way since the very beginning of our school years.
This geological column gives us a clear idea of the order of evolution according to the theory of evolution.
Does the scientific evidence support the fact that humans and dinosaurs lived together at the same time?
All that would need to be done is to discover human fossils (or artifacts) in the very same rock layers (strata) that dinosaurs have been discovered in. (One of the very best books that illustrates this point is Against All Odds, by Carl E. Baugh.) This would certainly give good credence to the idea that they have lived together at one time.
One of the greatest examples of humans and dinosaurs living together are found near Glen Rose, Texas in the Paluxy River. This area is well known for its fossil footprints of dinosaurs. Hundreds of these have been discovered in this area over the last number of decades. These fossils have been discovered in the creataceous layer (one of the ‘dinosaur layers'). This layer is above the jurassic and triassic strata.
a number of years ago quite a few fossilzed human footprints began to show up as well in the very same layer that dinosaur fossils had been discovered in. A few had even crossed paths. This idea that human fossil footprints crossed dinosaur footprints was sharply attacked by scientists (especially by evolutionists).
Human footprints were extracted from the earth and tested. One was dissected and examined by scientists. Foot doctors (podiatrists) examined it as well. Because no other creature makes footprints like humans (both shape and preesure points), this fossil was determined to be completely human by the dozens of doctors and scientists that examined it.
Many evolutionists, however, determined that they 'must be carvings' and were never accepted as being genuine. (For them to admit that they were actually human would eliminate evolution as a theory). Even though tons of rock was removed, at one time, to expose more of these human footprints, most evolutionists have completely rejected the idea that any of these could possibly be human. More than a dozen of these footprints were discovered in one 'path' of these footprints.
These human footprints did cross dinosaur tracks.
