Good Coin Dealers – What Should They Have in Stock?

A coin collection is a great way to have fun and build up a solid investment portfolio at the same time.  After all, you can't "ooh" and "aah" over stocks and bonds, but a rare coin is something that virtually everyone can appreciate!

If you're interested in coin collecting, you've probably started looking for coin dealers – or have already started talking to some of them.  However, before you start doing business with anyone, there are 3 things that you need to be on the lookout for.  If your coin dealer has them, you know you're working with a good one:

1.A rare gold coin

Yes, coin dealers have all kinds of gold coins, but if you can get a rare or a specialized gold coin from your dealer, you know you're working with a good one.  In fact, good coin dealers will have gold coins that date back more than a hundred years – and the proof to back it up.
They will also have an impressive gold coin collection from all over the world.  In addition to American coins, be on the lookout for coins from China, Australia, Mexico, and parts of Europe, since they tend to have the greatest value.

2.An impressive silver dollar collection

To a silver collector, there is nothing better than a pristine silver dollar.  And, the more specialized of a silver dollar you can find, the better dealer you know you're working with.

Good coin dealers have a silver dollar collection that is chock full of rare goodies – like Morgan Dollars, Peace Dollars, Eisenhower Dollars, and Susan B. Anthony Dollars.  If you're able to choose from goodies like those, you can wind up with a very rare – and, thus, a very valuable – silver dollar collection.  However, you can only get it from quality coin dealers.

3.A gold American Eagle

Coins that are minted directly by the U.S. government come with added value, and there is nothing more valuable than a gold American Eagle.  One of these coins can easily be worth a few thousand dollars!

So, how do you get your hands on them?

Since they come directly from the U.S. government, only the very best coin dealers have access to them.  A group of gold American Eagle coins is minted every year, but the group is very small.  The U.S. Mint only has a limited number of coins to distribute, and they are only offered to the country's top-of-the-line coin dealers.  If you see that your dealer has American Eagles, you know you've found a good one!
