Digital Footprint
Digital Footprint - Internet shorthand for a unique idenitfying trait that differentiates one Internet user from others. Digital Shadow, Cyber Shadow, Cyber Tattoo, Online Tattoo and Online Footprint are synonyms.
Originating from a single source, a Digital Footprint is made up of multiple inputs over time. The list of physical and virtual locations used to contribute to a Digital or Cyber Shadow include electronic transactions, mobile device activities, public records, public and private computers, wifi hotspots and check in devices for building entry and transportation. An individual or organization's digital footprint is as easy to access as it is difficult to recover from the damages unauthorized access can cause.
