What's the big deal if it was as warm as now during the dark ages?

We know what is causing the current warming - Humans burning fossil fuels, releasing greenhouse gasses the equivalent of a period of extreme volcanic activity.
We know what happens after a period of extreme volcanic activity; a mass extinction.

So, why are the deniers continually trying to compare now with the last period when solar activity was at a high, when it is at a historical low now, and ignoring the very obvious factor of very high CO2 levels - higher than they have been since before the Antarctic froze over?

Surely they should be comparing now with the end of the Oligocene, rather than with the trivial, and local, northern European medieval warm period?

I'm sure your question posted in this category by mistake. But isn't this where the global warming deniers truly belong?

Fayoum Oasis Day Tour from cairo

Faiyum is the source of some famous death masks or mummy portraits painted during the Roman occupation of the area. The Egyptians continued their practice of burying their dead, despite the Roman preference for cremations. While under the control of the Roman Empire, Egyptian death masks were painted on wood in a pigmented was technique called encaustic—the Faiyum mummy portraits represent this technique. While commonly believed to represent Greek settlers in Egypt, the Faiyum portraits instead reflect the complex synthesis of the predominant Egyptian culture and that of the elite Greek minority in the city.

Undisputed remains of early anthropoids date from the late Eocene and early Oligocene, about 34 million years ago, in the Fayyum area, southwest of Cairo, Egypt. One of the earliest fossil primates at Fayum is Catopithecus, dating to around 35 million years ago.
