North Shuswap Vacation Spots

The North Shuswap is a preferred holiday destination in the interior of British Columbia. Get pleasure from a paradise of striking views featuring the warm-water Shuswap Lake, beautiful settlements, charming bays, beautiful sandy seashores, encampments, picnic spots, and mountaineering trails. The settlements in the North Shuswap include St. Ives, Celista, Scotch Creek, Anglemont, Lee Creek, Magna Bay and Seymour Arm. The north shore of Shuswap Lake is where the world-famed Adams River salmon flow happens. Additionally it is the place of the popular Shuswap Lake Provincial Park.

The North Shuswap attracts numerous outdoor adventure lovers who are seeking out vacations. Mountain climbing, bicycling, tenting, golfing, fishing, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, river rafting, snowmobiling, and para-sailing are a few of the countless available activities. Animal enthusiasts can benefit from the nature trails and opportunities to see wildlife. The place is known for boating and swimming on the warm, clear waters of Shuswap Lake. It is celebrated as one of the warmest summer lakes in BC.

Years before pioneers settled in North Shuswap in 1895, the place was abode to the First Nations people. Logging, berry growing, plus trapping are the vocations the early settlers engage in to earn their living. Water provided transportation, with a ferry plying the waters between Sorrento and Scotch Creek from 1914 to 1956, till a bridge was constructed at Squilax in 1930. Small trails functioned as roads among homesteads and the lake. Ultimately, these trails were broadened, and a gravel street was constructed linking Anglemont and Scotch Creek. The road was cemented around the 1960s.

The economic stronghold of North Shuswap is tourism. Additionally, forestry, wood products, agriculture and service industries are some other sources of the economy. One of the most popular activities is to find a Shuswap Boat Rental and enjoy the beautiful pristine waters of the lake.

The best way to get the North Shuswap:
The North Shuswap is located on the north coast of Shuswap Lake, in the Thompson Okanagan area of BC. From Kamloops, the ride is 1 hour, from Kelowna two and half hours, and from Vancouver five hours. To reach there, take the Squilax Bridge off Highway 1 between Chase and Sorrento. You are in the North Shuswap once you cross the bridge over the Adams River. Go east along the north shore of Shuswap Lake on the Squilax-Anglemont Freeway, a well-maintained, lovely highway. The tarred part of the highway ends after fifty five km at St. Ives; from there, a gravel path leads to the town of Seymour Arm.
