Many artists have created wonderful works of art surrounding dragons of both myth and real life. It is very interesting to study the dragon artwork that is available and the compare to real creatures we know of today. There are some amazing lizards in today's world that could very well have been called dragons in the past. Not only is it possible that these dragons of today though small may be the very animals that were called dragons in the past but they make excellent specimens to study for dragon artwork.

As an artist I have been interested in creating pictures of dragons but sought subjects to help me determine what these creatures might look like and I have been amazed at the amazing looks and beauty of the modern day dragons regardless of their size. I have learned that reptiles do not stop growing and if given different environments the dragons of today could truly become some fearsome creatures. There are dragons that have sail fins, horns on their heads and yes even wings. Well sort of, they are not wings in the same fashion as a bird however they are able to glide far distances.

Could it be that the dragons of myth and lore are actual animals whose description was simply exaggerated over time? Or perhaps an even more outrageous theory that is becoming less outrageous in today's world of discovery, perhaps there truly is a winged serpent or lizard that exists and this is the animal of myth and legend called the dragon. Regardless of whether the dragon is a real creature dragon artwork abounds in many forms. If you are seeking such artwork, you will not be limited with the options that abound.
