The medical term for cancer of the bones would be sarcoma. Bone Cancer Wiki This is an uncommon type of cancer that originates in the bones, which usually occurs in the long bones.
In general, there are numerous types of bone cancers that affect both young people and adults. When we talk about primary bone cancer, this would mean that the cancer originated in the bones, while if it is already prefixed with secondary, this means that the cancer has only metastasized to the bones and it did not actually began there.
Causes of primary cancer of the bones are usually unknown however it has four types namely, Ewing sarcoma, chondrosarcoma, spindle cell sarcoma, and osteosarcoma. Apparently, the most common symptom of this type of cancer would be bone pain. Some people would think of it as arthritis pain in adults or growing pains in children, which is why it is not diagnosed early.
Aside from the pain, there is also a noticeable inflammation or swelling in the affected area. There are also some instances wherein a lump around the affected area can be felt. If the cancerous bone is proximal to a joint, then that joint may be difficult to use.

The causes of sarcoma are not known but experts believed that it may have been caused by an erratic DNA causing immediate cell division and death which forms mutated cells or cancer cells. These cancer cells would then continue to multiply until they form tumors.
What's more unusual in sarcoma is that they can spread to the lymphatic system and can eventually spread into the blood. This is the main reason why sarcoma is more dangerous because it can spread faster and can affect organs faster.
