How to Make Red Fairy Wings For Your Fairy Halloween Costume

There are probably over one hundred different Halloween sites and stores that have some really fantastic fairy wings, yet if you want to add personal touch to your Halloween costume, you can make them on your own. Below are a few simple steps to making your very own red fairy wings.I also added a link to a wiki page at the bottom of this article that will walk you through the entire process. Read through the article first; gather all the necessary material and then watch the video if you get confused along the way. You will be surprised how easy it is to make fairy wings.

1. Start off by gathering four wire hangers. You can easily find these at a bargain store for under a dollar. Another option is to go to your local dry cleaning store and see if they can part with four wire hangers for free.
2. Next, either use old pairs of red tights or purchase inexpensive ones at a bargain store. You will need two packs.
3. Buy some wide ribbon and sturdy yarn. Make sure they are the color red.
4. You will need water based glue and some red glitter.
5. Old paint brush, scissors and pliers are used for the dirty work.

Take one hanger and make it as straight as possible. Then take both ends and bend the ends together. Twist them slightly together at the ends so they stay together. You will now have an oval shape. Do this to the rest of the remaining hangers.

Now shape all the oval hangers into wing shapes. Use the yarn to tie a loop at the end of each fairy wing. Now take two of the wings and join them with the yarn so that they are very tight. These two wires will shape the bottom wings. Now do this for the top wings as well.

The next step is to take the tights and place them over the wire and stretch them so they cover the entire wing. Cut off the excess and then tie it at the bottom so it does not come off. Do this for each wing.

Cut two equal lengths of wide ribbon and tie them to the middle of the wings. Place the glue on the wings anywhere you want and then add glitter. You now have some pretty well made wings.
